The Bible tells us to bring our requests to God, and when we do, we naturally desire they be satisfied,it is important that we understand what’s needed for requests to be answered. Today’s passage announces we are able to be assured God hears when we ask as agreed by His will. You will wonder, How am I able to know my petition lines up with His will? For a start, the Bible provides some clear suggestions.
One example is one Thessalonians 4:3 : “For this is the will of God, your sanctification ; that is, that you refrain from sexual immorality.” And verse eighteen of the subsequent chapter tells us, “In everything give thanks ; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Many areas are not so clear-cut, but Romans 12:2 gives guidance on the way to discern – rather than agree to a worldly pattern of thinking, we are to let scriptural truth replenish our minds. In that way, we “may prove what the will of God is.”
When we pray about something that is not God’s will, but we sincerely wish to know His mind on the matter, we’ll frequently discover our interest in the request starts to decline. Ultimately , we shall likely stop praying about it or begin to think, Lord, somehow I am not too sure my request is of You.
In this manner, God respects our try to discover His will and carefully moves us to His perspective. Do you have any unanswered requests that could be outside of God’s will? Ask the Lord to help see your petition from His perspective.
